Description

Boat OverviewThe LM 27 is a well-regarded Danish-built motorsailer, produced from 1972 to 1985. It is known for its solid construction, seaworthiness, and practical design. With a long keel and sturdy hull, it performs reliably in both coastal and offshore conditions, making it ideal for adventurous cruising. Its interior is spacious for its size, comfortably sleeping up to six, with a separate head, galley, and a convertible saloon.Sailing performance is solid, particularly off the wind, and the boat’s ability to motor-sail adds versatility in varying weather. The pilothouse provides shelter and excellent visibility, making it suitable for all seasons. The LM 27 also features quality craftsmanship with classic teak finishes, adding to its aesthetic appeal. Its balance of comfort, durability, and charm makes it a compelling choice for cruisers who prioritize practicality and reliability. Whether for weekend sailing or longer trips, the LM 27 remains a classic, dependable yacht with timeless appeal.MechanicalEngine: Bukh DV36Power: 36hpDrive: Shaft DrivePropeller: 3 blade fixed propRope cutter: YesEngine serviced: Annually by ownerLast service: April 2025Engine hours: Approximately 3250Electrical1 x 12v Engine start battery1 x 12v Domestic battery - 2025Shorepower with leadRCD breakerNavigationSpeed and depth - Stowe DatalineChartplotter/GPS - Garmin GPSMap 450Autopilot - Autohelm 2000DSC/VHF - CobraCompass - Contest 130Navigation lightsSails, Spars and RiggingType: SloopRig: Masthead rigFurling: Inmast furlingHeadsail furling: Furlex 100sReefing line led aftStanding rigging: 2008Spinnaker pole1 x Meissner 8 mast winchSails:Main - 2017Genoa - UV strip replaced 2017SpinnakerInterior & Domestic6 berths in 1 cabin plus saloon1 x heads with pull out sinkWarm air diesel heating - 2025Pressurised cold water1.82 m headroomSaloon with tableBench seats convert to doubles either sideForepeak with V berthTV not includedWheelhouse with wheel steeringHelm seatGalley with gas grill and 2 ring burnerSink12v coolboxDeckWheel and tiller steeringGRP deckAnchor lockerAnchor with chainChain rollerS/S pushpit and pullpitMidships cleats2 x Meissner 8 primary winchesCockpit seatingFold out double tableFolding doors to wheelhouseBoarding ladderSafetyManual and electric bilge pumpHorseshoe lifebuoyFireblanketRadar reflectorCanvasFull cockpit enclosureDocumentationEvidence of 5 years clear title - Bills of Sale from 1989Evidence of VAT status - Dutch VAT documents and UK marine letter confirming location 31/12/2020Builders certificateSSR certificateOwners CommentsPlatypus is a fine example of the very popular LM 27 motorsailer. Probably one of the roomiest most comfortable boats under 30 ft on the water. I’ve owned her for 10 years now. Originally buying her specifically for a single handed circumnavigation of the British Isles. She was the perfect choice. Performing well without a glitch all the way round. She sails remarkably well and the larger 3 cyld DV 36hp Buhk engine fitted means, if necessary, she will keep punching against a tide when others slow down. Such a good boat but living around 100 miles from the coast I have decided to replace her with a boat suitable for exploring the inland waterways. Platypus has been regularly maintained and is in excellent condition. Apart from usual maintenance I have carried out the following replacements/improvements whilst owning her: Hood replaced and extra stainless steel support hoop fitted to prevent hood sagging. Mainsail, cutlass bearing, propeller, rope cutter, seawater valves, vhf radio, carpets all replaced. Diesel hot air heater and hob with grill installed. If you’re looking for a good, well maintained genuine example of an LM 27 you won’t be disappointed.DisclaimerFor a full, detailed specification with additional photographs and direct contact details for the listing office visit our website at www.watersideboatsales.comThe Company offers the details of this vessel in good faith but cannot guarantee or warrant the accuracy of this information nor warrant the condition of the vessel.
