Description
The Cornish Crabber 24 was first introduced in 1975 and has proven to be a hugely successful design for the British builder with several revisions of the original basic design maintaining her appeal. In 2017 Andrew Wolstenholme was commissioned by the builders to undertake a full redesign of the Crabber 24, with the brief being to ‘progress the boat’s performance without turning it into an average white racing boat’. The Cornish Crabber 24 MkV was the result of this project. Blending modern technology with her carbon mast, timber gaff and boom with traditional styling the all new Crabber 24 MkV has rejuvenated this modern classic design while maintaining the traditional Cornish Crabbers family identity. Built to her current owners specifications the Cornish Crabbers 24 MkV EQUINOX is a fully loaded example of the class boasting an extensive inventory which includes: Gelcoat and wood work in as new condition Copper-coated underwater hull Yanmar 2YM15 marine diesel engine with under 80 hours of use Featherstream 3 blade, feathering propellor Spurs rope cutter 230VAC shore power Galvanic Isolator Mastervolt battery charger Victorn Energy BMV-712 battery monitor Raymarine Axiom 7 chart plotter Raymarine ST2000+ tiller pilot Raymarine i50 Tridata log/speed/depth display Raymarine i50 wind instrument Pressurised hot and cold water system with immersion heater Aqua Marine 2 burner and grill galley cooker Eberspacher heating system Electric windlass 3D inflatable dinghy Very lightly used and wintered ashore under her full boat cover the Cornish Crabbers 24 MkV EQUINOX offers buyers a rare chance to acquire an as new boat, viewers will not be disappointed. PRESS REVIEW: ‘The Crabber 24 Mk V is certainly a very different boats to the Mk I version I sailed all those years ago, but really it should be judged on its own merits. This is a comfortable shoal-draught yacht for a clientele who might be downshifting from a modern yacht with all the associated creature comforts and crucially are used to a bit of performance. In other words, they might like the idea of a gaff rig, but they don’t necessarily want to sail a relatively slow boat. The Crabber manages to combine these sometimes conflicting demands with the trademark Crabber character.’ Nic Compton ‘Talkin’ Bout A Revolution’ – Classic Boat, August 2018 Full copy of article available upon request CONSTRUCTION Hull Construction: Single piece GRP moulded hull.
