Description
Beneteau First 40 “JASON” is a highly optimised 2011 performance racing yacht, prepared for serious coastal and offshore competition. She is a unique project developed with Italian yacht designer Alessandro Paganini and sailing designer Flavio Formosa, with major upgrades to keel, rudder, rig, sails, electronics and hull preparation. The yacht has a custom 2,700 kg T-keel, 2.60 m draft, modified rudder, carbon mast, carbon steering wheel, hydraulic mast jack, hydraulic backstay tensioner, carbon spinnaker pole and carbon bowsprit. She is equipped with a strong performance sail inventory and NKE racing electronics.Despite her racing focus, JASON still offers practical comfort with 3 cabins, 1 electric head, new Sunbrella mattresses, Webasto heating, 150 W inverter, renewed lights and taps, and a cockpit with special non-slip coating.A rare opportunity to acquire a professionally optimised Beneteau First 40 with serious racing specification, extensive carbon equipment and strong offshore capability.
Racing OptimisationJASON is not a standard Beneteau First 40. A new 2,700 kg T-keel was specially developed for this yacht, increasing the draft to 2.60 m and improving stability, upwind performance and racing efficiency. The rudder was also modified according to a custom template, with increased area and length for more precise handling. The underwater hull has been faired using special templates for ideal streamlining and finished with Speedy Carbonium racing antifouling. The exhaust was moved from the side to the stern to reduce drag. The interior was also weight-optimised, with the bow cabin converted into sail storage, the bow water tank removed, lockers and doors replaced with lightweight textile solutions, and wooden floors replaced with lightweight sandwich panels.
Carbon Rig, Sails and ElectronicsThe yacht is equipped with a carbon mast, hydraulic mast jack, hydraulic backstay tensioner, carbon steering wheel, carbon spinnaker pole and carbon bowsprit. This setup allows fast and precise rig adjustment for different wind and sea conditions and supports both symmetrical and asymmetric sails for offshore racing. The sail inventory includes a carbon semi-battened mainsail from 2021, carbon J1 from 2021, carbon J2 from 2023, Dacron J3 from 2017, S1.5 spinnaker from 2017, S2 spinnaker from 2021, and A1 and A3 gennakers from 2021. All running rigging has been changed to Gottifredi Maffioli ropes. The electronics were upgraded in 2021 with NKE racing equipment, including racing computer, autopilot, mast repeaters and wind instruments.
Comfort and Offshore CapabilityAlthough JASON is prepared for performance racing, comfort on board has not been forgotten. She offers 3 cabins and 1 electric head. The mattresses have been replaced with new Sunbrella mattresses, a Webasto heater has been installed, all lights and water taps have been replaced, and a 150 W inverter is fitted on board. The yacht has MCA Category 2 and ISAF Category 1 safety preparation and can race with a crew of up to 12 people. She has been continuously maintained and updated to remain in excellent racing condition, with attention to equipment, electronics, sails and hull preparation.Beneteau First 40 is a globally recognised race-winning model, and JASON represents a particularly well-prepared example for owners looking for competitive regatta performance and offshore capability.
