Description

"AMBITION" is an impressively upgraded IRC / GP 42 from Botin and Carkeek, that has been brought to the forefront of the 40ft scene.Previously known as "Tokoloshe" in the UK and "Enterprise" in Western Aus, she was the last (and best) GP42 built, with her close sistership being the all conquering "Callisto" in the last Admirals Cup event.Aside from the original hull, most of what you see on "Ambition" has been brought up to the very latest design and optimization iterations, including full compliance and capability offshore as well as Inshore. Her most notable upgrades include a new Hall Spars rig in 2020 with full composite rigging, deeper lighter keel fin, complete structural overhaul including her new flush deck and most recently an electronics package that ticks all the boxes for offshore routing. The icing on the cake is that not only is this a fully turn-key boat with huge rated performance, but these boats offer crews some of the most exciting sailing out there, whilst not having 52 budgets!"Ambition" is now a do-it-all type boat and absolutely ready to go........ Did someone say Admirals Cup 2027?RigSloopBrand new ultra high modulus Hall spars mast, boom and rigging package in 2020.The ultra-high modulus mast tube was the first FAST 40 to have new, dedicated tooling for refined mast structure, aero and design.Full grand Prix package in carbon fibre with titanium metal work for weight saving.EC6 standing rigging with RAZR forestay also installed with new mast in 2020.Working with Hall Spars the mast & boom were both reinforced to enable a second & third reef to be used for offshore. Criteria was to carry FRO/J0 with two reefs in up to 40knots.Modifications carried out by Composite Technologies in Perth under direction from Hall Spars.Mast inspected in 2025 by Sydney Rigging.EC6 Rigging serviced in February 2025 by Future Fibres and now has 5 year certification.Razor forestay non-destructive tested via ultra-sound in February 2025 and given all clear.Geometry• P- 17.25m m• E- 5.9m• J- 4.99m• STL- 7.73m• SPA- 195mRig and halyard setup:2 x Mast head halyard1 x Main Halyard on lock1 x FRO halyard on lock1 x Jib halyard on lock1 x GS halyardCarbon boom with three reef pointsMast jack and internal meridian RAM Adjustable mast stepGorilla headstay foilFixed carbon bowsprit with dual tack lines, one is a 2:1 systemFull race running rigging packageAddition Equipment5 x auto bilge pumps and 2 x roaming pumpsDeck coversWinch coversBoom coversShipping cradle (capable of both high and low modes)Keel cradleYanmar diesel inboard engine• Serviced March 2025• New water pump August 2025• New injectors Feb 2024New Gori race prop 2022Full Cat 1 safety gear including life raft6 x bunks with lift mechanisms & lee clothesJet boil burnerCarbon toiletSpare bowspritSpare rudderSpare masthead wand20 foot container with shelving and powerMiscellaneous spares and tools Deck GearHarken/Spinlock and custom deck fittings throughout.• 3 x Harken 50.2 Main and pit winches• 2 x Harken 45.2 Backstay winches• 2 x Lewmar 60.3 GPST Primary winches• Harken Pedestal, gearboxes, take down system and drive shafts• Spinlock clutches• Harken tracks and cars• Diverse spin sheet reelersElectronics• Full offshore racing package• H5000 Performance processor• Toughbook laptop• 2 x Panasonic remote screens• 5 x Garmin displays on mast bracket• 2 x Garmin displays at runner position• 1 x GFD• 3 D motion sensor• Heel sensor• Rudder string pot• LT500 Compass (primary)• P9 Compass (secondary)• Custom MHU• Forestay load pin (Diverse)• Jib Taco load cell (Cyclops)• Furler load cell (Cyclops)• WIFI antenna• Pepwave Router for managing between Starlink and 5G• AIS• VHF radio• Permanent install Starlink system• Lithium house and start batteries, both new in 2022Build2009 Botin Carkeek GP42Builder - Longitud CeroLOA - 12.81mLWH - 11.97mDISP - 4320kgBEAM - 3.90mDRAFT - 3.01mBULB WEIGHT – 1982kgIRC 2025 - 1.252 TCC (Endorsed)MaterialFull carbon hull and deck with foam coreCarbon reinforcements and bulkheadsLow CoG steel keel fin, with optimized IRC bulb.Carbon rudder stock and bladeHistoryBoat was originally built for the 2009 Med Cup circuit, as the GP42 Madrid-Caser Endesa, inspired by the ETNZ TP52 hull. She was one of the last GP42's built and in 2010 won the Med Cup championship, with her sistership (now “Callisto”) secondIn 2014 the boat was then brought to the UK and optimized for IRC racing and raced both inshore and offshore. As the UK FAST 40 scene began to take shape, the optimization continued and taking the boat to the top echelon of IRC yachts worldwide. At the end of 2020 the boat was imported into Australia and through 2021 was modified for Category 1 offshore racing and capable for Sydneyto Hobart.
