Description
Built as Quantum Racing by one of the most successful TP52 Builders in the World “Longitude Cero”. Professionally maintained and continually refitted throughout her life to keep her competitive against much newer boats, Vesper is still very much at the top of the fleet and could potentially be the most decorated 52 ever built (see below her incredible results and relevant links). Her most recent victory came at the 2025 Copa Del Rey where she was crowned European Champion, coming out on top over 8 other TP52’s, including several 2015 & 2018 generation boats. The yacht remains competitive under both IRC and ORC with the current trim tab configuration, while the recent optimization has been more closely aligned with ORC. Vesper is an exceptionally fast yacht whose rating remains manageable, in part due to 15 years of accumulated age allowance under the rating rules. Notably, her rig remains the one of the lightest "tall rigs" in the fleet.Under current ownership, Vesper has regularly competed against several "turbo" TP52s and one area of targeted improvement for the 2024–2025 season was better control off the start line and maintaining clear air—critical factors in large fleet racing.
LATEST UPGRADES SNAPSHOT:2014 - Vesper under-went a major refit at the KKMI Boat yard in Sausalito. Her hull, deck paint and fairing was removed and the hull sanded to bare carbon. The deck is reinforced, the stem is rebuilt to handle the increase Code Zero Loads. Her hull is ultra-sounded. Winch system upgraded. The hull is re-faired and repainted. A new Hall Spars mast is built 600 mm taller with all carbon standing rigging. Her structure is reinforced for the higher loads from the taller mast.2015 - New keel fin and keel bulb fitted. Her fin is built in New Zealand. The fin is composite with machined solid steel center section with carbon fiber fairings fore and aft. The fin is 150 mm deeper. 2016 - She is refit with a new light weight racing engine. 2019 - Hall SCS rigging replaced with EC6 standing rigging2020 - Masthead Lock added to the rig. Lower check-stay deflector added to the mast. Genoa Staysail sheave added to the rig2024 - At the end of the 2024 Season a new deeper keel was constructed with a trim tab to improve the upwind performance of the yacht vs the latest generation TP52’s.
