This allows for thicker, highly impact-resistant hull plating without compromising the boat's sailing performance or stability.Unlike fiberglass, which punctures or fractures on hard impact, aluminium is elastic. It tends to dent, bend, or absorb energy, drastically reducing the risk of catastrophic failure from grounding or impacts.Aluminium doesn't suffer from osmotic blistering, is highly fire resistant and provides excellent natural bonding for lightning protection.Because aluminium hulls do not degrade over time in the same way GRP hulls do, they hold a strong residual value.Aluminium hulls have no through deck fittings so are completly dry.Aluminium hulled boats are viewed favorably by insurance companies due to historically low claim rates.HullAluminium 5083 H 111, welded in an Argon/Helium atmosphere.Extra hull insulation including Armacel on frames.Lead internal ballast encapsulated in resin.Antifouled prior to launch in June 2026.Center plateThis is an aluminium unballasted foil for giving windward lift not stability. The boat is ballasted internaly and also aided by its form stability. The centerplate rotates round a forward transverse bearing and is controlled by two lines lead to the port coachroof winch. Rudder / steeringThe rudder also raises and is controlled by a mechanical hydraulic pump/ram.When the rudder is lifted the boat settles onto a structural frame which also encapsulated the propellor.Hydraulic ram refurbished 2026.New rudder bearing kit (to be fitted as required).Lewmar binnacle with wheel steering and integrated table.Lewmar stainless steel wheel with leather grip.DeckAluminium 5083 H 111, welded in an Argon/Helium atmosphere.Deck with walking areas in non-slip.Cockpit seats in slatted Teak.Teak forward cockpit floor duckboard.Teak slatted plinth behind the helm which is slightly shapped for when the boat is heeling. Cockpit storageLifting the starboard cockpit locker lid reveals access to the cavernous technical area which is also utilised for storage.
