Description
Marketing Description ‘Windsong’ is a very good example of the 4-Cabin, 2-Head Bavaria 42 cruiser from the Bavaria stable. Unlike her modern sister ships, this vessel was built in 2000 and benefits from acres of both solid and laminate mahogany cabinet work. Don’t be put off by the 4-cabin layout as she has only ever been in private ownership and never chartered. The midship bunk cabin is ideal for unexpected guests or doubles as a decent storeroom for longer trips. Talking of which, the current owner has just returned from a trip to Gibraltar and back. Powered by a well maintained inboard Volvo Penta 55 hp MD22L with 120SD saildrive unit. Comprehensive electronic navigation package including AIS, 12-inch colour plotter, radar, DSC VHF and autopilot. Excellent safety package including NEW liferaft. Comes with dinghy and outboard.
Mechanical Vessel powered by an inboard Volvo Penta MD202L. The engine has been, regularly maintained with service receipts going back many years. The most recent was in April 2025 and the engine is scheduled to be serviced early May 2026. The engine is situated beneath the companionway steps, allowing easy access for servicing and daily checks. Further access from both aft cabins. Volvo 120 Sail Drive unit with 3-bladed fixed propeller. Exterior SD gasket replaced 2025 along with all anodes. Sail drive seal was replaced in 2018Single lever engine control mounted on steering binnacle in cockpit. Engine start panel mounted below the wheel. Engine spares.
Electrical 12/240V systems on board. Bank of 3X12V deep cycle batteries providing engine start and domestic power. These are fitted with isolator switches at chart table and recharged by either the engine alternator or the onboard smart charger. 12/240 Volt switch panel at chart table with illuminated selector switches. Short power including cable.
Rigging Deck stepped aluminium spars by Selden. 9/10ths fractional masthead Bermudan sloop rig with stainless steel standing and braid on braid running rigging. Slab reefing main mounted in Lazy jack bag on boom. Roller furling system for head sail. All lines are led aft to helm via a system of turning blocks and deck organisers. 2x Lewmar self-tailing Genoa sheet winches and 2x Lewmar coach roof mounted self-tailing halyard winches.Sails include a slab reefing mainsail, a roller furling genoa with UV strip, a cruising chute and a small genoa.

Accommodation Below decks is warm and welcoming with 6-foot headroom throughout. Lots of natural light thanks to the numerous port lights and deck head hatches. Accommodation is over 4 dedicated sleeping cabins which negates the need to turn the saloon seating/dining area into an additional berth. The two aft cabins are mirrored in layout and feature a large double berth, double storage cupboard which has a hanging space on one side and shelves on the other. Opening port for ventilation, 12V lighting and a heating outlet for the diesel fired heating system. The two aft cabin guests can be allocated the large day heads which features a Jabsco marine toilet, moulded basin with storage below and a shower with sump pump out. This head is fitted with a holding tank. Large forward facing chart table with seat and chart storage. 12/240V switch panel with illuminated selector switches. Electronic navigation aids including VHF radio, radar and coloured plotter. Forward of the chart table is a U-shaped seating area with central table and settee. This can sit up to 10 people with ease. Cupboard storage behind and additional storage below the seating. This area is covered with attractive green/yellow 'Tartan' effect fabric. Opposite on the port side is the linear galley with easy clean work tops. 2-burner gas hob with oven, stainless steel sink with hot and cold pressurised water and a huge top loading fridge for perishables. Lots of cupboard storage for ambient goods, crockery and utensils. Corridor from saloon to forward cabin lined in veneered marine ply. On port side is another head with sea toilet, sink and shower. Opposite heads on starboard side is the mid ships bunk cabin with 2-full sized single berths. This cabin has a heating outlet, opening port and 12V lighting. Bow cabin with double berth, hanging space, shelved storage, opening deck hatch, heating outlet and 12V lighting. Construction GRP constructed sailing yacht with white topsides and nautical blue coveline stripe. Standard draft cast iron keel with bulb. Binnacle wheel steering with spade rudder. Underwater areas antifouled in March 2025. Rear cockpit seat is hinged and acts as an easy access step to cockpit. Teak laid cockpit sole and locker tops. Shallow halyard lockers port and starboard. Deeper aft lockers for fender storage. Good sized side decks with inboard shrouds positioning make for unhindered access forward. Anchor locker in bow with electric windlass. Stainless steel bow fitting with roller allows anchor to be permanently deployed. Hull to deck join finished in attractive teak capping. Stainless steel bow and stern rails conjoined by stainless steel stanchions and double set guard wires.
