1984 Springer

Molly is offered as a project boat, having been recently submerged and subsequently recovered. She is currently ashore on hard standing, providing clear access for inspection and works. A recent survey identified the cause of the sinking as a holed gas locker. Over time, corrosion led to perforations which allowed water ingress into the engine bay, ultimately resulting in the vessel sinking. Prior to this incident, Molly was a well-presented example of a 1984 Springer narrowboat. The baseplate was overplated in July 2023, with the hull sides blacked at the same time. Propulsion is provided by a reliable Lister 2-cylinder diesel engine, which had previously demonstrated its capability with a 190-mile journey. The engine has been serviced since the submersion and has been running, however, it does now require a new starter motor.
