In 1973, more or less, a then very young Germán Frers, son of the great Argentinian naval architect of the same name, designed what for him at that time had to be the ideal and definitive cruising boat. That design was so successful and so much liked by his father that it gave rise to a small series of units, one of which, christened Fjord, like all his boats, was made for the Frers family itself. The builder, Alberto Cibil, was well known for the quality of his workmanship and often worked for both Germán Frers. Some 66 units of the new boat were built between 1978 and 1992, divided into two series, distinguished fundamentally by the arrangement of the engine, in both a very strong Perkins 4.108, which in the first series is mounted further aft, in the owner's cabin, and transmits its power to the shaft by means of a hydraulic gearbox, and in the second series it is mounted under the second entry ladder and has a more traditional mechanical reverser. The chainplates of both masts were also modified in the second series, to alleviate a defect that caused them to delaminate and rust. The FyC 44, better known as the Frers 44, is an ocean-going cruiser with good sailing performance, masterfully designed and built and finished with great attention to detail and high quality carpentry. The Apaë, as the boat on offer is called, was brought to Europe for display at the Düsseldorf Boat Show in 1984. The high European tariffs did not allow the commercial success that this model would have deserved and the Apaë, hull n. 48, belonging to the second series of this model, was the only one sold new in Spain. Today, after having had only two owners, she is offered for sale in good structural condition. The sails are recent, the rigging has been very little requested, as has the engine. The electronics, although mostly old, are functional. The boat needs repairs to the teak deck, to remove the screws, which are now unnecessary and to rejuvenate the wood with a light sanding. This is a blue water cruiser, of the traditional type, which has proven its robustness and great capacity on many occasions and is therefore highly regarded by enthusiasts.

Retractable keel, maximum draught 2,29 m. Genoa and foresail with furling gear, Zodiac 260 dinghy. Three-bladed Max-Prop propeller. Rigging 10 years old, very little use. Sails in very good condition for the same reason. Electronics old, but functional. Webasto heating to be serviced.

Flag: España
