Description
A unique classic trunk cabin sportfish convertible which has only had three owners since new and always lived in the Treasure Coast of FL area. Built by Whiticar Boatworks and completed at the beginning of 1983, this is Hull #55. She got a new pair of Cummins 6BT 5.9-liter diesels 210hp each in 1990, which still have under 690 original hours. In 2005 she had a full paint job. The 2nd owner bought the boat in 2006 and named her EAGLES NEST. He made many general improvements through the builder until health challenged his abilities to continue with it, which is when it sold to the current owner in September of 2024. The current owner has restored the vessel thoughtfully with focus on keeping its original character. The boat came out of a boatyard visit in June of 2025 with new antifouling and several other updates. Most photos on this spec are recently taken, and the boat can be easily seen at her present berth on Hutchinson Island, FL.Accommodations and WalkthroughEntering the salon from the cockpit through the hinged door with glass window there is lots of natural light due to forward deckhouse and large side windows. A lower helm is forward to the starboard side and to the port side is a dinette. The dinette has leather colored vinyl cushions in great condition and a good size table which can comfortably seat 4 with a teak fiddle spill edge. The sole is laminated wood decking and has hatches to access the engine compartment. When needed the dinette seating and table can be folded down to give extra space. There is dockside A/C with a Cruisair unit with digital thermostat. If natural ventilation is preferred, the deckhouse side windows can slide open, the forward center window can be opened and the salon door glass can fold down. There is hanging rod storage above the dinette. The main electrical panel is to the port side and then down a few steps is the head entry to port. To the starboard side is the Galley area with stainless steel sink, 2 burner electric stove and Mica countertop with storage behind and below. Further forward to the bow is the V-berth area nicely trimmed in teak with drawer and cabinet storage beneath the berths and a large overhead deck hatch with screen. Berths are over 6'5' in length. To either side are shelves and forward there are reading lights. Natural light via the side trunk cabin windows. The laminate wood sole extends through the lower deck. In April 2024 she had antifouling, new cutlass bearings, props tuned, transom and shaft zincs replaced as well as a general review of the bilges, and a couple of seacock valves renewed. It has a white hull with blue bottom paint (SeaHawk Cukote) and a red boot stripe. In June 2025 the anti-fouling was renewed. The bottom has V-struts with keel guarded 4-blade props and large trim tab planes. The chine has a full-length rail. A classic Whiticar gradual bow rising shearline with some tumblehome in the transom and the iconic deckhouse windows.Bow pulpit with stainless bow railGalley Maid 12V WindlassPlow style anchor with chain lead and nylon rodeForward trunk deckhouse has wood safety grabrails on top(3) windshield wipersForward opening deckhouse window, recently the three forward windows were cut, cleaned, and caulked with a new top piano hinge on opening center panelSliding Salon side windowsOpening deck hatch, Bomar, with screen on trunk cabin above V-berthBimini topDual Trumpet electric hornShip's bellTeak ladder to flybridge with stainless steel grabrails through opening with hatch coverTeak Ladderback helm chair with cushions on flybridgeFRP Pompanette companion chair with cushions on flybridgeStainless steel helm wheel with speed knobMorse controls and additional single levers for trolling valves at flybridge helmStarboard drink holder by side of flybridge helmLower helm has a barstool helm seat with footrest6-spoke teak clipper helm wheelSaltwater washdown in cockpitDockside freshwater connectionRunning and Anchor lightsCockpit fly canvasFishing EquipmentLee gunwale mounted outriggersTwo Scopinich white ladderback sailfish chairs in cockpit(4) flush mounted rod holders in gunwales(4) rod holders on aft flybridge railingShimano teaser reels on flybridge railingHanging rod storage in cabin above dinetteGaff and/or brush storage cabinets on either side of cockpit beneath gunwalesTeak cockpit stepElectrical and MechanicalMain engines were installed by Whiticar in 1990 and are Cummins 5.9ltr BTs at 210hp each and have approximately 688 running hours since install.
