Description

The Morgan 462, designed by Henry Scheel, is a proven bluewater cruiser valued for her solid construction, generous storage, and comfortable accommodations. This 1981 model features the sought-after two-cabin, two-head layout with a spacious aft stateroom including an athwartship berth and ensuite head with bathtub and shower. A walk-through passage connects the aft cabin to the salon, with a workshop and excellent engine room access along the way.Longevity, a 1981 Morgan 462, has been exceptionally well maintained throughout her life and can be easily commissioned back into service as an active cruiser. The Morgan 462 is renowned as one of the strongest fiberglass sailing monohulls ever built. If you were to take a core sample from her hull, you’d find nearly two inches of solid fiberglass—no cheap core material, just pure strength. These boats were built to handle anything the ocean can deliver. Run aground, and you’ll likely worry more about the reef than the hull. Her keel-stepped mast adds even more security and confidence at sea, making her a true bluewater voyager. Powering the vessel is a Perkins 4-154 diesel, a legendary engine celebrated for its reliability and endurance. Many of these engines are still running strong after more than four decades, and Longevity’s is no exception.Currently located at Nanny Cay Boatyard, Longevity is in the care of a full-time yacht caretaker. A dehumidifier runs continuously aboard, keeping her interior fresh and dry.The center cockpit provides an excellent sense of safety and protection offshore, while the two companionways—one to the aft cabin and one to the main salon—offer a comfortable and private layout, ideal for sailing with family or friends.Built for serious passage making, Longevity is the kind of vessel that can take you across oceans, through rough open waters, and anywhere in the world. She’s a proven, solidly constructed bluewater cruiser—perfect for those dreaming of circumnavigation or simply a safe, dependable home on the sea. This is truly a go-anywhere boat, ready for her next adventure.Additional InformationAccommodationTwo-Stateroom Arrangement (Sleeps up to 11 total)Forward StateroomFlat V-berth (twin bed size)Hanging locker, drawers, and shelves over berthsSleeps 2Midship Walkthrough Area (Crew Bunks)Private sleeping areaLong over-under double berthsHanging locker and drawersCurrently set up as storage/work areaAft Owner’s StateroomLarge athwartship queen berthHanging locker, drawers, and lockers with bin storageCushioned valet seats (port & starboard)Extremely private — guests can access forward areas without disturbing ownersSleeps 2Additional Sleeping AreasLong settee/berth + long pilot berth opposite dinetteSleeps 3 total (1 upper, 2 lower)Heads (2 Total)Aft HeadTub/shower with telephone-style shower headElectric macerating toiletSpacious floor areaForward HeadShower pan with slotted teak grateTelephone-style shower head/sink faucet comboElectric macerating toilet*Both tub and shower pan drain overboard via electric pumps.Saloon and CockpitBimini with dodger and full cockpit enclosureDinette seats 4–6Settee seats 3Spacious cockpit seats 6–8Teak & holly plywood deck insert in cockpitInterior Comforts and AmenitiesHeadroom 6’2” minimum (5’10” in passageway/midship cabin)Twin deep stainless steel sinksHuge 19 cu ft top-load ice box (two lids, 3” urethane foam insulation, insulated counter surface)Gimballed Force 10 3-burner stoveTop-loading pot lockerFood & dish storage lockers over countersDrawers & lockers below countersCustom cabinets for flatware & dishesCustom area for 20-gal garbage containerDust bin in galley soleU-shaped dinette with drop leaf & liquor/condiment stowageSole underside and bilges painted with gelcoat for easy maintenanceHatches & Ventilation(1) V-berth forward hatch (21”x21”)(2) Main salon hatches (21”x21”)(1) Midship cabin hatch (10”x10”)(1) Aft cabin hatch (10”x10”)Forward & aft heads + aft cabin: acrylic light panels w/ stainless solar vents(1) Galley hatch (10”x10”)Aft companionway: FRP sliding hatch with cover, teak drop-ins, SS handrails(14) opening cabin portlightsAdditionalMagma BBQ (rail-mounted, plumbed to main tank)No A/C, heater, washer/dryer, or icemakerElectronics and NavigationElectronics updated 2022Garmin GSDMAP chartplotter at helmRitchie compass (helm)Garmin radar on mizzen mastAutopilot with Navico control (chart table & helm)Fusion stereo (SiriusXM + WiFi)Garmin GMI 20 display at chart tableStandard Horizon VHF (chart table)Uniden Atlantis handheld VHFElectrical SystemsNorthern Lights M643 5 kW Marine Diesel Generator (60 Hz)12V DC system125V 30A 60Hz AC power systemFour Motive T-123 6V batteries (house bank)Engine start battery30A battery chargerAlternatorAC outlets throughoutCourtesy lightingLED running lightsOriginal Morgan switch panelDeck and Hull EquipmentPrimary anchor: 20 kg Lewmar BruceDual anchor chains (~150 ft total)Ideal 12V vertical windlassDual bow rollersOpening portlightsBimini enclosure with dodgerDeck hatchesCockpit cushionsCockpit tableFenders & dock linesSwim platform (transom mounted)Bow pulpit & railsSwim ladder (stern)Side stanchions & lifelinesDinghy davitsNavigation lightsSails and RiggingAluminum single-spreader main mast with mast stepsRoller furling GenoaMainsheet travelerStack pack with lazy jacksMainsailGenoaMizzen sailStanding rigging: 1x19 stainlessMainmast & all standing rigging replaced in 2018Lewmar 55 winches for jib sheets + smaller mast winchesMechanical Equipment(1992) Northern Lights M643 5 kW generatorPerkins 4-154 marine dieselManual bilge pumpElectric bilge pumpsHydraulic steering (Hynautic K-26)Fire extinguishers in each cabinEmergency tillerIdeal 12V vertical windlassDual engine-room access (passageway door + aft head door)Engine InfoEngine: Perkins 4-154Year: 1980HP: 62 hpDrive: Inboard, shaft driveTransmission: Hurth HBW20 (2.73:1)Prop: Fixed 3-blade bronzeHours: 8,554 (on gauge)Full engine gauges & instrumentationTemp & oil alarmsEmergency stopGroco raw water strainerTankageWater – 195 galFRP tanks lined with sanitaryware gel, fully baffledDipstickable with central manifold & deck fillsAll plumbing connections through topAll tanks below sole for weight distributionTank access via sole drop-insFuel – 175 galFire-retardant FRP tankDipstickable & baffledTop-fed connectionsOwner’s Comments and Boat HistoryI have taken great care to maintain the vessel properly, addressing ongoing maintenance needs proactively. The portlight “eyebrows” are a particularly appreciated feature, allowing the ports to remain open even in light rain. According to the previous owner, the vessel was originally owned briefly by a woman in Seattle before being sold to a California sailor who lived aboard for several years. During his ownership, he cruised extensively—from California down to Baja, onward to Panama, and through the Caribbean island chain—eventually bringing the yacht up the U.S. East Coast and ultimately to the British Virgin Islands. Prior to being renamed Longevity, the vessel was known as Leprechaun. In 2000, friends of mine purchased the yacht in partnership with three other couples, gradually acquiring the remaining shares over time. My late husband and I began visiting them aboard Longevity in 2011. In 2023, I entered into a partnership with the then–co-owner. I am now the sole owner.Longevity is exceptionally comfortable under sail, with a notably sea-kindly motion. Her expansive cockpit enhances both cruising enjoyment and onboard living. Numerous portlights and hatches provide excellent ventilation, keeping the interior cool in warm climates. The tub offers a generously sized showering area as well as a practical utility basin for rinsing wetsuits and other gear.DisclaimerThe company offers the details of this vessel in good faith but cannot guarantee or warrant the accuracy of this information nor warrant the condition of the vessel. A buyer should instruct his agents, or his surveyors, to investigate such details as the buyer desires validated. This vessel is offered subject to prior sale, price change or withdrawal without notice.
