He supervised every stage of the rebuild, resulting in a unique vessel that seamlessly blends professional patrol-boat heritage, uncompromising structural integrity, and refined Italian craftsmanship, a rare and remarkable former patrol boat originally commissioned by the La Maddalena Port Authority. Built in 1975 in Hampshire, England, the vessel features an exceptionally robust HALMATIC hull constructed in fiberglass-reinforced plastic, renowned for its strength and seaworthiness. Designed for extended operations. The Nelson Pilot 40 is one of the most iconic pilot boats ever designed, combining proven commercial pedigree with exceptional seakeeping and cruising comfort. Designed by Arthur Mursell and built in the UK by Halmatic, the Pilot 40 is based on the legendary Nelson semi-displacement hull—widely regarded as one of the most successful offshore motor yacht designs of the post-war era.
