Keel Hull: Traditional long keel with a skeg hung rudder and wheel hydraulic steering History & Construction: Built in 1970 this Great Dane 37 motor sailer was designed by the Danish maritime architect’s Knud Olsen and Svend Sandersen in the late sixties. This timeless vessel has a Blue painted GRP hull and a cream GRP superstructure with teak decks, long keel and Skeg hung rudder with wheel hydraulic steering. This Great Dane 37 was last out of the water in 2023/24 for re antifouling and the anodes changed. The stainless steel standing rigging was last replaced in 2002 and running rigging was replaced in 2012. Equipped with a proctor furling headsail and a slab reef mainsail with lazy Jacks, this vessel allows for efficient sailing in various conditions. Mechanical Systems: Located a midships this Great Dane 37 is powered by a 1970 Perkins 4236 four-cylinder 70hp diesel engine, fitted in 1970. This Perkins 4236 is powering a shaft driven three bladed fix propellor and is supplied by two 225 Litre fuel tanks 1 x stainless steel, 1 x plastic tank fitted with a fuel polisher and transfer pump. The engine and gearbox were last serviced in Spring 2024 Electrical Systems: 6 x 12-volt batteries (4 x domestic battery 2017, 1 x 12-volt engine battery 2022, 1 x anchor winch & Bow Thruster new 2017) charging from the engine alternators and a 240 Battery charger. This Great Dane 37 benefits from shore power connection with a ring main throughout the vessel, immersion heater and 12V inverter. The has two alternators, one for the domestic batteries and one for the engine and bow thruster batteries.
