Description
At the Lovely Noorderhaven, right in the heart of Groningen, lies a remarkable vessel full of character: the cutter “STEADY, VK6.” Built in 1934 at the renowned Nicolaas Witsen and Vis shipyard in Alkmaar, this steel cutter represents the very best of Dutch shipbuilding craftsmanship. With her elegant lines, rounded frames, and solid construction, she is a rare example of traditional maritime heritage that remains in excellent condition. The “STEADY” has a rich history. She once sailed from Groningen deep into Eastern Europe, and later even across the Baltic Sea—a testament to her seaworthiness and reliability. Powered by a four-stroke Kromhout GS 108 engine from 1956 (60 hp at 1000 rpm), she runs smoothly and powerfully, producing the characteristic sound beloved by enthusiasts of classic marine engines. The engine has been fully overhauled and has logged only about 500 operating hours since. The vessel measures 14.53 meters in length, 3.89 meters in beam, and has a draft of 1.72 meters. With a displacement of approximately 38 tons, she is robust and stable. The hull has been blasted and treated with a two-component Sigma system, both above and below the waterline, and is in like-new condition. The interior radiates warmth and craftsmanship, featuring oak paneling and a thoughtfully designed layout: a wheelhouse with access to the engine room, a comfortable midship and forward cabin with living accommodations, two cabins, and two berths. The “STEADY” is equipped with Kabola central heating, a hot and cold water system, shower, electric toilet, a galley with a four-burner gas stove and marine oven, and multiple tanks (1000 L freshwater, 600 L wastewater). On the technical front, the vessel is well-equipped with modern systems, including a Mastervolt charger and inverter, AIS, Raymarine navigation, Robertson autopilot, chartplotter, solar panel (340 W), and a 10 kVA Mitsubishi generator. With her permanent berth in the Noorderhaven—one of the most beautiful locations in Groningen—the “STEADY” offers the best of both worlds: the tranquility of the water and the vibrancy of the city. A unique opportunity to own a piece of sailing heritage that is fully operational and ready for immediate use.
