Description

1927 Dutch Barge 'JOJA' for SaleJOJA is a much loved and admired Dutch Barge. She is for sale reluctantly due to other commitments. The current owners purchased her in 2003 and they have thoroughly enjoyed cruising her on both the tidal and non-tidal River Thames. She is a very well maintained example of a fully operational Dutch Barge, built in Holland in 1927, with the superstructure being fitted in England in 1956. She would be very well suited as a liveaboard for one or two people. What makes JOJA unique is the aft deck - a large canopy covered area for relaxing and entertaining. She is appreciated up and down the River Thames for her fine lines, good looks and rich historical vibe. The central driving position means that she doesn't feel like a big boat when driving - she benefits from great visibility and responsive steering.A recent survey, carried out in 2021 is available for prospective clients to view and she comes with a Boat Safety Scheme Certificate, valid until 2027.Brief History Built in Zwartsluis in 1927. Hull No L1849N. Brought to the UK in 1956, when the superstructure was fitted. Used commercially in the 1980's for Thames cruising. In 2004 year's worth of exterior overpainting were completely removed back to metal. In 2005 she was completely rewired and replumbed (Water and Gas). In 2008 the Hull was plated around the waterline with a 300mm x 6mm steel band. Shortly after a new propeller and shaft were fitted. In 2016 the Hull was blacked and the anodes were inspected as okay. In 2020 the exterior was repainted with Toplac International and Interdeck paints - the interior was also repainted. In 2020 she had a new Victron Battery Charger fitted. In 2021 she was out of the water for a full survey, which noted that remedial work to the hull was required - this has now been completed to a very high standard by '4 All Marine' in Chertsey who have over plated with 6mm steel, alongside fitting 10 new anodes and new blacking. The work has been inspected by the surveyor and the report updated. A full insurance survey will also be provided. This work, at a cost of @£18,000, will give JOJA many more years of life on the river. JOJA has a Boat Safety Certificate valid until 2027. Please note, she is deemed unsuitable for Canal cruising as is too deep in the water.Additional InformationConstruction Length: 15.84m Beam: 2.93m Maximum Draft: 1.20m Fuel capacity: 300 Litres Water capacity: 1000 Litres Holding tank capacity: UnknownMechanical Engine Brand: Deutz Engine Type: Inboard on shaft Engine/Fuel Type: Diesel, air cooled Engine Total Power: 94 HP 24V Starter 24V Alternator - New 2008 Engine room below aft deck Exhaust to rear of the boat Safety Automatic Fire ExtinguisherElectrical 2 x 135 Ah batteries in Series - 24V Domestic Power (New 2016) 2 x 180 Ah batteries in Series - 24V Engine Starter Power Shore power lead Victron Battery Charger/ Monitor (New 2020) 24V fuse panel 2 x Shore Powered 13A Sockets Engine room lighting Battery Switches/ Relays 24V to 12V under dashboard Boat Completely rewired 2005InteriorAFT DECK: Large seating area with table for entertaining Fold out table for Dining - stores under Saloon Fully covered by Canopy (New 2016).
