SOVEREIGN 17 – #1 of the 10 most iconic Sunseekers ever made (Motorboat and Yachting July 2020) For serious aficionados of classic motor boats, Sunseekers and James Bond. This is the boat that launched Robert & John Braithwaite, with their brand Poole Powerboats to become the internationally recognised luxury yacht builder Sunseeker International. “Now acknowledged as the very first Sunseeker” (Motorboat and Yachting July 2020), Robert Braithwaite CBE (Sunseekers founder) saw its potential and the 17 foot Sovereign was the start of Sunseeker we know today. A Sovereign 17 #033 ‘Crazy Girl’ featured in the Bond movie ‘Quantum of Solace’ (2008) as a sports tender where Robert featured in a cameo role early on in the film as the boat’s Skipper. Bond (played by Daniel Craig) takes a ride in the Sunseeker 17 en route to the Tuscan villa of his supposed ally, Mathis.
